Conference on High Technologies in Gynecology of Childhood and Early Reproductive Age

On March 11, Almazov Centre held the V Annual Conference on High Technologies in Gynecology of Childhood and Early Reproductive Age. This year’s event took place online and attracted a great deal of interest among both young doctors and senior professionals.

In her opening address Tatyana Pervunina, Director of the Institute of Perinatology and Pediatrics, welcomed the participants and expressed deep satisfaction that despite the virtual setting there was a busy agenda of speeches.

Head of Adolescent Gynecology Department Nadezhda Kokhreidze spoke about the versatile and multidisciplinary approach to solving the complex problems in providing specialized care to girls with gynecological diseases. She presented data testifying to the success of the research and practical development of the department: increase in the number of hospitalizations and surgical procedures, the complexity of surgical care, good treatment outcomes as well as a large number of publications over the past 2 years.

The program included three modules. The first module was devoted to the protection of children’s reproductive health in modern conditions.

In her presentation “Modern possibilities of Russian healthcare in protecting the reproductive health of girls”, chief visiting pediatric and adolescent gynecologist of the Russian Ministry of Health, President of the Russian Association of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor Elena Uvarova highlighted modern achievements in the management of major disorders typical of childhood. Deputy Chief for Oncology at Almazov Centre, Eduard Komlichenko spoke about world achievements and his own experience in the use of robotic surgery in the pediatric and adolescent gynecology. Maxim Rulev, Head of the Department of Assisted Reproductive Technologies, presented new data on the reproductive aspects of childhood gynecology.

    

The second module was devoted to certain surgical aspects of pediatric and adolescent gynecology and focused on the topical issues of surgical treatment of gynecological diseases. Head of the Research Laboratory for Surgery of Congenital and Hereditary Diseases Ilya Kagantsov gave a presentation on the “Goals and modern possibilities of surgical treatment of urogenital defects in girls.” Obstetrician-gynecologist Elena Petrenko spoke about the possibilities of robotic surgery for organ preservation in diseases of the uterine appendages in girls. Presentations were followed by a vivid discussion.

The closing part was a debate club devoted to rare diseases in girls. The presentation by Natalia Lyubimova, Junior Researcher at the Research Laboratory of Autoimmune and Autoinflammatory Diseases of the World-Class Research Centre for Personalized Medicine, was devoted to the issues of autoimmune ovarian failure. Chief visiting pediatric and adolescent gynecologist of the Karelian Health Ministry Marina Ukvalberg spoke about the tactics for recurrent adnexal torsion in girls. Adolescent gynecologist Kyaniz Aliyeva presented the challenging aspects of managing gynecological bleeding in girls with clotting disorders.

In closing, the participants of the conference praised the high level and relevance of the presentations, outlined the prospects for the development of the pediatric and adolescent gynecological care based on a multidisciplinary patient-centered approach.
