Objective

To organize research on the topic "Search for new molecular and genetic markers for prediction of the course of neuroendocrine tumors."

Major tasks

  • Searching for prognostic markers of the clinical course (aggressive growth, tumor recurrence after surgical treatment), response to medical therapy of growth hormone- and ACTH-secreting pituitary adenomas and multiple PTG lesions in primary hyperparathyroidism.
  • Identifying new candidate genes, whose congenital and somatic mutations can cause PGL/PCC and PTG adenomas, and determining the possibility of predicting the course of these diseases depending on the type of mutation (primarily, predicting the malignant behavior of PGL/PCC and multiple PTG lesions).
  • Searching for new imaging methods for ACTH-secreting pituitary adenomas, PGL/PCC and PTG adenomas to determine the possibility of using additional treatment methods.
  • Searching for possible targets for antitumor therapy for aggressive somatotropin- and corticotropin-secreting tumors as well as malignant pheochromocytomas.
  • Searching for genome and transcriptome markers for differential diagnosis of thyroid neoplasms and for predicting sensitivity and safety during radioiodine therapy.

Focus areas

  • Study of molecular and genetic markers of pituitary adenomas.
  • Study of molecular and genetic markers of pheochromocytomas/paragangliomas (PGL/PCC).
  • Study of molecular and genetic markers of primary hyperparathyroidism with multiple tumors.
  • Study of molecular and genetic markers for the differential diagnosis of thyroid neoplasms and safe and effective radioiodine therapy.
